HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - As we dive deeper into December, we have to start being on the lookout for winter weather threats.

Forecasting winter weather in the Southeast is extremely challenging and there is almost never an overwhelming amount of confidence. Communicating a winter weather forecast is even harder.

It is this time of year you may start to hear and read more about the possibilities of sleet, freezing rain or snow. Do you know the difference between the three? Did you know it can snow even if the temperature at the ground is above freezing?
