HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — After several days of indulging on some Thanksgiving favorites, several avid runners came out to burn off some of those holiday calories; by participating in Fleet Feet's Ugly Sweater Run.

Runner Holly Keeton became interested in running four years ago. She remembers running a minute then immediately huffing and puffing, but that's changed. "I've now run from 5k's to 20 half marathons, four marathons, and four ultras, so yeah it's addicting," Keeton said.

Fleet Feet fit specialist Thomas Grace said they host fun runs all the time. He said the run helps promote the store, but also brings the community together. "You're learning how to run and build your endurance, but you're making a lot of friendships, shaking a lot of hands, networking, and meeting a lot of great people," Grace said.

Runners had the chance to run up to five miles or walk. "Running is one of those things you got to keep being active, keep working out, you can't quit, you will see the progression and see yourself get faster and have more endurance," Keeton explained.

Keeton said running changed her life and it can do the same for anyone else, and why not throw in an ugly Christmas sweater too.

Fleet Feet hosts free runs all the time. For more information visit their Facebook page.
