Police continue to investigate a Decatur party shooting that sends 2 to the hospital

DECATUR, Ala. — Two people were sent to the hospital after suffering gunshot wounds during a party Friday night.

Around 11:40 p.m. Friday, Decatur police responded to a multiple shots fired call at the Morgan Center. Police say a party there had become unruly and resulted in a large fight. Private security at the event pepper sprayed the crowd, causing the fight to move into the parking lot.

As the fight continued in the parking lot, multiple people that haven’t been identified started shooting various weapons. During the incident, two people got shot.

The first victim was shot several times and transferred to Huntsville Hospital. His condition is unknown at this time. The second victim was struck in the foot and was taken to Decatur Morgan Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Several vehicles were hit by gunfire as well.

The Decatur Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit was called to the scene to investigate the incident.
