LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Ala. – A corrections officer in Lauderdale County spent Thanksgiving behind bars himself.

Authorities say 21-year-old Brandon Pate, who had only been a corrections officer for a short time, was arrested and charged with promoting prison contraband.

Sheriff Rick Singleton says when Pate arrived for work Thursday night, he was questioned and searched.

Deputies say they found cigarettes, rolling papers, super glue, a cellphone and charger on Pate.

The Sheriff says they had gotten word that one of the corrections officers was supposed to bring contraband into the jail for inmates.
