UPDATE: Sheriff identifies three people found dead after early-morning house fire in Etowah County

GADSDEN, Ala. – An investigation is underway following an early-morning house fire in Gadsden.

Authorities say that Deputy Eric Johns discovered the fire while on patrol, around 3 a.m. on Fambrough Drive in the Tidmore Bend community.

Family members told the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office a husband and wife were believed to be inside the home at the time, along with their adult daughter.

The Etowah County Sheriff’s Office has identifeid the three family members as 74 year-old Arthur Wayne Fambrough, 60 year-old Katherine Fambrough and 40 year-old Jill Fambrough.

Autopsies will be performed at the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences to determine the cause of death.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office and Etowah County Arson Task Force are working to determine how the fire started.
