SCOTTSBORO, Ala. - Lifelong resident Robin Shelton is now the mayor of the city of Scottsboro.

"I've been involved in the community my whole life. I was in healthcare for thirty-two years and my wife and I are currently small business owners," says Shelton.

His goals are to make sure projects like the Veterans Ballparks and the downtown renovation are completed.

"I want to get a good grasp on those projects and make sure we do maximize our citizens tax dollars in that regard. Of course, everyday were looking for new industry to enhance Scottsboro and the quality of life."

He also wants to make a push in the tourism department.

"I think just promoting our natural beauty, our tourism. I think we are a sleeping giant here with our natural resources."

Mayor Shelton says the advancement of the city is something he holds near and dears to his heart.  He says the changes they make now can be a big benefit to those in the future.

"You know I have nine grandchildren and I hope that we can move forward enough that as they grow older, if they choose further in their career here would be an option versus moving away."
