HARVEST, Ala.- Thanks to parents, community members, and Alabama officials Endeavor Elementary School has new playground equipment. They hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate.

Principal Karen Mardis has been a part of the school for almost two years and said when she arrived the playground needed to be upgraded. "We discovered that two of the major pieces of our playground was no longer safe for our boys and girls to play on; so we removed them immediately," Mardis said.

PTA members started to raise funds to build the new equipment last year and figured the project would take three years to complete in several phases, but they raised the money much faster.

In one year PTA members like Lisa Novak were able to raise more than $70,000 for the new playground. "Having this playground equipment and know it is safe for my children and students makes me feel even more comfortable sending them to school," Novak said.

The new additions to the play ground include two new jungle gyms and several other pieces.

The school plans to host several other fundraisers to complete phase three of the project. For more information or to donate visit: http://endeavor.mcssk12.org/
