HAZEL GREEN, Ala. - A mobile home fire in September left a man dead and a home destroyed. When fire crews responded, they put out the blaze and found the body of Danny Smith.

During the beginning stages of the investigation the Madison County Sheriff's Office says they sent Smith's body in for an autopsy.

The sheriff's office said the autopsy revealed Smith's death was homicide.

"After intense investigation and execution of several search warrants the evidence led the investigators assigned to the case to believe Justin King and Dakota Allen Vickers caused the death of Danny Ray Smith," Lt. Brian Chaffin  said.

Lt. Chaffin says both King and Vickers have been charged with capital murder and have no bond. The cause of the fire has not been revealed, but officials says they do know it was arson.

"We believe it was set intentionally and the subject was murdered and those two together make it a capital offense," Lt. Brian Chaffin said.

Authorities says they do have other persons of interest and more criminal charges may be filed.
