HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Huntsville Police were called to University Drive and Boxwood drive around 11 p.m. on Tuesday about a hit and run that left one man unconscious in the road.

HPD says the driver of the vehicle was an elderly woman, who noticed she hit something, but wasn't sure what. She pulled over in a nearby gas station to assess the damage to her car. She called the police when she saw the damage, saying she thought something was in the road.

The victim, who HPD says was not using the proper crosswalk for University Drive, was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The driver was tested on scene and was not under any sort of influence. She will not be charged.
