UPDATE: Jackson Co. Sheriff’s Office confirms body found in Section is missing DeKalb man

SECTION, Ala. – The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says investigators have confirmed a body found Wednesday in Section is that of a man reported missing from DeKalb County.

Family members last saw Ricardo Hernandez over the weekend.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office received a call Sunday night of a man walking around property on Bluff Road in Section. Deputies say the property owner said the man was looking for a place where a party was going on. “Obviously he was at the wrong house and he was told that, and he took off and went up through the woods for whatever reason. We don’t know,” Phillips said.

Wednesday morning after an extensive search crews found the man’s body on the edge of a cornfield off of County Road 37, which is near Bluff Road.

His body wasn’t able to be identified on the scene. ¬†Investigators still haven’t determined how he died. ¬†They are waiting for more information from the Alabama Department of Forensics.
