People say horrible things on social media. From bullying to badgering; teenagers in particular have it pretty hard in the digital realm.
Instagram wants to change that and create what it calls a safe, diverse space for people to engage in.
As a result, the Facebook-owned company has announced it’s rolling out a new tool that will allow people to filter offensive language from comments on their posts.
As CBS News reports, this capability first rolled out to businesses and celebrities a few months ago. Now it’s available to all of Instagram’s more than 500 million users.
To use the feature, Instagram fans just need to enable the filter for their account. It will automatically block a default list of words. Users can also customize their keyword list.
