DeKalb County man dies doing work on vehicle after jack fails

SYLVANIA, Ala. – A man died Monday morning in DeKalb County after working on a vehicle.  Sheriff Jimmy Harris said the jack failed, and the vehicle fell on the man.

The man, identified as Sanchez Albino Huerta, was 42 years old.  He was working on the vehicle outside a home on County Road 112 in Sylvania when the accident happened.  DeKalb County E911 was called and sent DeKalb Ambulance Service to the residence.  Huerta was unresponsive. Coroner Tom Wilson was called to the scene and pronounced the man dead.

“This is a tragic accident and our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Mr. Huerta,” said Sheriff Harris.
