Decatur man arrested after domestic violence investigation

DECATUR Ala. – The Decatur Police Department responded to a call on July 24th around 1:07 a.m. from the Decatur-Morgan Hospital concerning a woman being injured by her boyfriend earlier that night.

According to authorities, when officers arrived at the hospital Seretha Mullins had swelling above her left eye and a laceration on her left arm. Mullins told police that she had been punched in the face and cut with a knife by her boyfriend, William Vernaris Fennell during an argument.

During the investigation, detectives were aware that Fennell had four previous domestic violence convictions and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Fennell was arrested by the Athens Police Department on Sept 2nd.

William Fennell is now being held at the Morgan County Jail in lieu of a $15,000 bond.
