ELMORE, Ala - The Elmore Correctional Facility is on lockdown after an inmate was stabbed to death on Tuesday.

Prison officials say 41-year-old Jonathan Gladney is suspected in the fatal stabbing of fellow inmate, 24-year-old Davieon Cotez Williams.  Officials say the two inmates got in to a fight Tuesday around 4:30 p.m. that lead to the stabbing.  The prison doctor pronounced Williams dead just before 5 p.m.

Gladney was serving a life sentence for a 2006 manslaughter conviction in Barbour County.  Williams was serving a 5-year sentence connected to a rape conviction in Chambers County.

Elmore Correctional Facility is located just north of Montgomery.  The prison will remain on lockdown until the investigation is complete.
