White Stripes frontman plays baseball on UNA diamond

FLORENCE, Ala. – The Shoals area is no stranger to seeing famous musicians, but the instrument of choice is not usually a baseball bat.  This weekend, The White Stripes frontman Jack White could be seen playing on the diamond at the University of North Alabama in a celebrity game hosted by fashion designer Billy Reid.

According to our news parteners at AL.com, this year Jack White’s Nashville-based record label, Third Man Records sponsored a team.

Reid hosts a weekend-long party every year to show off his adopted hometown to his friends from all over the country.

Billy Reid’s Shindig brought fun and festivities to Florence including a block party and music performances by artists including Dawes  and Florence resident John Paul White.

The score of the game is unknown, but it looks like everyone had a great time.  Here are a few more photos from the baseball game:
