Incredible rainfall totals reported in Louisiana as of Sunday morning

An incredible amount of rain has fallen in southern Louisiana and southern Mississippi over the past few days. The information below, from the National Weather Service in New Orleans, illustrates the rainfall totals from Friday through Sunday. Over a foot of rain has been recorded in Baton Rouge, and nearly two feet of rain has fallen in Livingston, LA.

So far, three people have died after succumbing to the floodwaters.

A 68 YEAR OLD MAN SLIPPED INTO A DITCH AND DROWNED WHILE TRYING TO
ESCAPE HIS FLOODED HOME IN EAST BATON ROUGE PARISH NEAR ZACHARY.

A 54 YEAR OLD MAN DROWNED WHEN HIS VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY SUBMERGED
AFTER BEING SWEPT OFF THE ROADWAY IN ST. HELENA PARISH NEAR
GREENSBURG.

A 40 YEAR OLD WOMAN DROWNED WHEN THE VEHICLE SHE AND HER FAMILY WERE
TRAVELING IN WAS SWEPT OFF THE ROAD IN ST. HELENA PARISH NEAR
MONTPELIER.
