No timetable for decision in Auburn QB competition

AUBURN, Ala. (al.com) - When it comes to Auburn's quarterbacks, Rhett Lashlee isn't ready to rule anything out. Really, anything at all.

The competition between senior Jeremy Johnson, third-year sophomore Sean White and junior college transfer John Franklin III for Auburn's starting job has spanned spring practice and the first nine practices of fall camp. Although head coach Gus Malzahn said he'd prefer to name a starter early on during preseason camp — and hinted that he might not need a second scrimmage to make a decision, he and Lashlee on Thursday did not rule out delaying the decision beyond fall camp.

In fact, it could last even longer than that.
