Another audio recording of Governor Bentley’s conversation is circulating online. This one is with Rep. Allen Farley. The political blog Yellowhammer News posted the conversation.

Rep. Farley told the blog he received a phone call from the governor on August 31, 2015. Dianne Bentley filed for divorce three days prior on August 28.  In the conversation, Bentley denies rumors that he was having an affair with his political advisor.  He also tells Farley that gambling interests are behind a campaign to discredit him.

Farley made his own blog post about his phone conversation with Bentley. The post includes what he says are quotes from the governor during the conversation. Some of those quotes are:

  • “There is no affair going on”
  • “There has been jealousy on the part of my wife”
  • “Casino Gambling People are feeding this story”
  • “So how do you solve all this without raising any taxes? Well, you gamble”

In addition to detailing the conversation, Farley’s blog post references a WHNT News 19 interview with Rep. Mike Ball about the upcoming special session.

Governor Bentley is calling a special session to begin next week. The governor released his plan pushing lawmakers to pass a lottery proposal.
