Von Braun Astronomical Society hosts Perseid viewing event late tonight

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Von Braun Astronomical Society (VBAS) is hosting a ‘Perseid Meteor Shower Viewer Event’ Thursday, August 11 at 10 p.m., weather permitting.

The event will take place in the field next to the VBAS Planetarium located at Monte Sano State Park.  All are welcome. Resident astronomer Doug Horacek will be on hand to answer questions.

Later this month, the public is also invited to start making plans for the 2017 solar eclipse. A meeting will be held August 20, which will cover topics such as the totality of the eclipse and safe viewing practices.
