Special Agent De’Greaun Frazier was shot and killed Tuesday during an ongoing drug investigation.

Brenden Tyler Burns, 23, is charged with murder in the case.

Investigators say Frazier was taking part in a “controlled buy” with Burns Tuesday afternoon in the area of Brianfield Cove. Burns was reportedly in the back seat of the car. The investigation shows Burns produced a firearm during the buy in an attempt to rob Frazier and the informant inside the vehicle. Investigators believed Burns fired at least once, striking agent Frazier, who later died at the hospital.

Law enforcement officers found Burns a short distance from the shooting. TBI agents charged him with “Murder in the Perpetration of Attempted Aggravated Robbery.” He’s being held in the Madison County, Tennessee Jail without bond.
