Lawrence County man struck by lightning dies from injuries

LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ala. – Lawrence County Coroner Greg Randolph has confirmed the death of a 20-year-old man who was struck by lightning. The incident happened Tuesday night.

Emergency crews were called to County Road 146 in the Hatton Community around 8:15 on July 19th after reports of a man being struck by lightning. Randolph has identified the young man as Hunter Blankenship.

He was taken to UAB for treatment. The hospital contacted Randolph around 11:30 p.m. on Thursday about Blankenship’s death.

Funeral arrangements have not yet been made.
