MADISON, Ala. – Fire crews responded to a call of a structure fire at the Halsey Food Service building Tuesday evening.

The notification about the fire came at 6:11 p.m. Crews on the scene were focused on the roof on one edge of the building. Madison firefighters say the fire was caused by a lightning strike.  The fire burned the thermal insulation of the freezer area.  The firefighters had to cut out part of the roof to the freezer area and extinguish it.  Some of the water used by firefighters froze because of the freezer temperature.

Employees were allowed back in the building around 6:50 p.m.

There are no reports of any injuries.
