DECATUR, Ala. – A fugitive from Tennessee, who also attempted to avoid his sex offender status, has been sentenced to 61 months in federal imprisonment.

Last October, Decatur Police got word that Freddie Long was living in Decatur. Investigators discovered the Tennessee man was using an alias while living in north Alabama.

Officials say Long also has multiple warrants with various agencies. Investigator Brandon Abbott of Decatur PD contacted the U.S. Marshal Service.

In November, he was taken into federal custody after a traffic stop and booked on multiple federal-level sex offender charges.

His sentence will run consecutive to his Madison County sentence as well as pending probation revocation in Tennessee. Following his release, Long, 35, will be on probation for 30 years.
