Documents: Alabama utility manager spent city money at strip clubs

FAYETTE, Ala. (AP) – The former head of an Alabama water system is going to prison after pleading guilty to spending taxpayer money on strip clubs in three cities and women’s clothing.

The Tuscaloosa News reports that former Fayette water board manager Scotty Moore pleaded guilty Tuesday to theft and ethics charges.

A judge sentenced the 60-year-old Moore to two and a-half years in prison. He was also ordered to repay $200,000 that he charged to a city credit card.

Court documents show Moore used the credit card at two strip club on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, plus Teasers in Dothan and The Furnace in Birmingham. He also was accused of using the card to buy lingerie, jackets, sweaters, high-heeled boots, vehicle accessories and a computer program to hide his crimes.

Moore apologized in court.
