HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Lace up your running shoes and get ready for an exercise in freedom.

The I Love America Run is set for Saturday, July 2 at Whitesburg Christian Academy, located at 7290 Whitesburg Drive.

Joachim Thoenes is the volunteer race director.

As he explains, "We're associated with Whitesburg Baptist Church, who for many years has had the I Love America celebration, so we thought it was appropriate to link those two and have a fun event on the Fourth of July weekend."

The I Love America Run consists of a certified 5K that will begin and end at Whitesburg Christian Academy.

For younger runners, there's also the 240-foot Age of America Dash.

The cost for the 5K is $25. It's just $5 to participate in the dash. Both events benefit the leadership program at Whitesburg Christian Academy.

If you missed Wednesday's online deadline, you can still sign up the morning of the event. Registration tables will open at 6 a.m. on Saturday.

The 5K will start at 8 a.m. The Age of America Dash is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.
