Rogersville man pleads guilty to manslaughter charges for wreck that killed 8-year-old daughter

LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – A Rogersville man who was driving under the influence when his car crashed, killing his 8-year-old daughter, has pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

Court Documents say that 33-year-old Matthew Ray Tidwell pleaded guilty this week to manslaughter and two counts of third degree assault.

In December 2014, Authorities say Tidwell was driving  under the influence when his car left the road and struck a tree.

His 8-year-old daughter, Samantha Tidwell, was killed. His two other children Ava and Mattie, ages 6 and 4 at the time, were also injured.

Tidwell will be sentenced Aug. 10 by Lauderdale County Circuit Judge Gil Self.
