HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - Always bumping up against your data limit? Use an Android mobile device?

If you answered yes to those questions, here are some simple tricks for maximizing your data plan and avoiding scary overage charges.

Step One: Go to Google’s Chrome browser, then Settings, then select Data Saver. This move reduces the size of images and websites you view.

Step Two: Keep Google apps like Play Music and News from syncing content without you realizing it. To turn these off, go to Settings, find Accounts, choose Google and then select your Google account. Uncheck whatever you don't want syncing.

Step Three: Make sure to restrict other apps that might also be updating in the background; things like email or social media. To do so, go to Settings and find Data Usage. Then tap the menu button and select “Restrict background data”.
