HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - If you live near a neighborhood pool, you'll likely hear lots of cheers this evening as swimmers take the lanes in the first meets of the 2016 season for the Rocket City Swim League.

Most teams practice daily and the meets are held every Wednesday evening during June. Swimmers from age 4-5 all the way to 17 compete in individual events in freestyle, breast, butterfly and backstroke.  There are also team relay events.

The meets start at 6:30 p.m. at neighborhood pools and usually last until after 9 p.m. They're fun, though, and swimmers and parents really get loud with their cheering!

Swimmers work to improve their times before the big City Meet the weekend of July 9-10 at the Brahan Spring Natatorium, where all 15 teams come together to compete in individual and relay events.

Good luck to all the swimmers this season!
