Native Kenyan wins Cotton Row Run for 3rd straight year; find more results here

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - This morning's sunny, hot conditions bothered most mortals running the 37th annual Cotton Row Run in downtown Huntsville.

The lead pack of Kenyans, however, was unfazed as they averaged 4-minute, 30-second miles on the hilly 10-kilomter course.

Sammy Too broke away in the last mile and won in 29:26, just off John Wellerding's course-record 29:10 from 1983. Trailing Too were fellow Kenyans Hillary Too (29:39) and defending race winner Julius Kogo (29:45).

"The course was hilly," Sammy Too, 27, of Chapel Hill, N.C., told our news partners at after accepting his $1,200 prize. "We were almost a group of five. We pushed. That's why we run that time."
