TENNESSEE VALLEY – If you’re looking for a way to celebrate Memorial Day and remember the veterans who gave their lives to protect our country, we’ve complied a list of some of the events around the Tennessee Valley.

“An Evening at the Veterans Memorial”

  • Date and Time: Monday, May 30, 2016, 7:00 pm
  • Location: Veterans Memorial Park, Monroe Street, Huntsville, AL.
  • Sponsor: AUSA Redstone-Huntsville Chapter
  • Music: Featuring Michael Curtis, Lee Marshall, First Missionary Baptist Church Choir, the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra and the AMC Band.  Bring lawn chairs and snacks. Pets and alcohol are not permitted.
  • Rain site will be the VBC South Hall. Broadcast live on WHNT News 19 &

Ceremony at Valhalla Funeral Home & Memory Gardens

  • Date and Time: Monday, May 30, 2016, 10 am
  • Location: Valhalla Funeral Home & Memory Gardens, 698 Winchester Road NE, Huntsville, AL 35811

Ceremony at Alabama Veterans Museum

  • Date and Time: Monday, May 30, 2016, 11 am
  •  Location: Limestone County Event Center (114 W Pryor St, Athens).
  • Speaker: LTG David L. Mann, Commanding General USASMDC/ARSTRAT
  • Refreshments following the program.
  • Flags are still available at the Museum for placement on veterans’ graves.

Ceremony at Glenwood Cemetery

  • Date and Time: Saturday, May 28, 2016, 12:00 noon
  •  Location: Glenwood Cemetery, Corner Hall and Cemetery Streets.
  • Sponsor: The urban Emphasis Scout Leaders Council, Boy Scouts of America.
  • Speaker: Chaplain, LTC (Ret.) Temple W. Richie; U.S. Air Force
  • Large tent will be available for inclement weather
  • Chairs will be available for seniors and the physically challenged.

Ceremony at Maple Hill Cemetery

  • Date and Time: Monday, May 30, 2016, 11:00 am
  • Location: Maple Hill Cemetery
  • Sponsor: NAVFOC, AUSA and the City of Huntsville
  • Speaker: BG Douglas Gabram, Redstone Arsenal and Mayor Tommy Battle

Ceremony in the city of Madison

  • Date and Time: Monday, May 30, 2016, 11:00 am
  • Location:  Madison City Veteran Park located at the corner of Front and Church Street, Madison, Alabama.
  • Sponsor: American Legion Post 229, Madison, AL
  • Music: Madison Community Band and the Rocket City Chorus will provide the music and songs. James Clemens High School JROTC will be the Honor Guard. One of the highlights will be “Duty, Honor Country,” performed by Mr. Larry Frakes and the Madison Community Band, led by Mr. David Ryan.
