Huntsville Fire & Rescue fights fire at apartment complex on Bonnell Dr

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Huntsville Fire & Rescue has five units on the scene of an apartment fire on Bonnell Dr, Monday evening.


Firefighters were called to the apartments at 6:30 p.m. A pile of mattresses outside of the apartment was on fire. Fire Captain Frank McKenzie tells WHNT News 19 he believes that fire spread to the apartment.

The cause of the mattress fire is still under investigation. However, McKenzie is not calling the fire suspicious.

The apartment impacted was vacant at the time, and no neighboring residents are having to move because of the damage.

Firefighters were able to get the fire out within 20 minutes.
