HUNTSVILLE, Ala - Caroline Kelly Buncick, Development Director for Burritt on the Mountain, talks about their 23rd City Lights and Stars Event happening at Burritt on the Mountain.
The first event is the 2016 City Lights and Stars Concert Series featuring Mambo Gris Gris. The band combines the musical influences of the Latin American and southern Louisiana regions that the brothers grew up visiting throughout their childhood. Mambo Gris Gris plays an eclectic mix of Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia, Latin folk songs, Zydeco and second line.
This first event is tonight, Friday, May 13th at 7:30pm. Gates open at 6:30pm. Advance ticket purchases are $12 for adults. All Burritt on the Mountain member tickets are $10, and tickets at the gate will be $15. There will be food trucks, and wine and beer will be available for purchase. Please do not bring any pets, and no outside alcohol is allowed. The concert will go on rain or shine. The second event is an original new series called "Stories Under the Stars." Burritt on the Mountain, WLRH 89.3, and Out Loud HSV are hosting a series of 3 evenings of live storytelling and music. This isn`t just for the kids though. Each evening will showcase 4 local storytellers, a headliner and a "wildcard" teller. Their stories must be true and match the individual theme of each night.
The first of these 3 evenings will be Wednesday, June 1st from 6:30pm to 9:30pm. The gates will open at 6pm and the cost is $10. The theme for this night will be "It's in my DNA." There will be food trucks, music, libations, and a little friendly competition. Investor's Resource is the series sponsor for this event.
