STARKVILLE, Miss. (al.com) - Auburn wasted no time Friday morning after being rained out the previous night.
A big first inning launched the Tigers' 6-4 win over rival Alabama in the SEC quarterfinals in Starkville. Auburn, the defending league champion, now turns around to face No. 1 Florida in the 4 p.m. CT semifinal.
The Tigers (47-9) scored four runs in the first to set the tone.
Alabama (46-12) came a few feet from tying it in the top of the seventh. With Haylie McCleney on second, Leona Lafaele's deep fly ball to center reached the warning track.
