UNA Heading to D2 Softball World Series in Denver

FLORENCE, Ala. (roarlions.com) - After winning the opener 3-0, the University of North Alabama softball team rallied for a 6-5 victory in the nightcap to sweep Rollins in front of 822 fans Wednesday at the NCAA South Region Super Regional. With the win, UNA advances to the NCAA Division II Women's College World Series next week in Denver, Colo. The Lions (55-6) become the first team to advance to the championships, which feature the last eight remaining teams completing for a national championship.

Trailing 5-3 in the top of the seventh inning of the second game, the Lions were down to their final out when Harlie Barkley connected on a double to left field that scored Courtney Shields from second base and Brooklynn Clarkfrom first to tie the game. The two-out rally consisted of back-to-back-to-back hits by the three seniors to extend the game.
