Man on crack cocaine arrested after running from officers trying to help him

DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) – Patrol turned into an arrest Tuesday.

Officials say two officers saw a broken down Buick Le Sabre on Spring Avenue. When they got of their patrol car, Demetrius Holsey got out of the Buick, staggering.

When police tried to help him, he ran, according to officers. After a brief struggle, he was arrested.

Investigators say Holsey was intoxicated after smoking crack cocaine. Some drugs and paraphernalia was also found on his person.

Holsey was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, Resisting Arrest, Public Intoxication, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

He was placed in the Morgan County Jail with bond $4,000.
