HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Just before 11 p.m. Wednesday night, Huntsville police inadvertently surprise a group of men breaking and entering cars.

A Huntsville Police officer pulled into the 24/7 Fitness Center parking lot on the corner of Highway 53 and Kelly Springs Road to finish some paperwork. That’s when she noticed two cars with the windows smashed. The officer then saw two or three men jump into a red car and speed away.

The officer tried to pull the vehicle over on Kelly Spring Road. The driver ditched the car, and all three men ran into the woods.

Huntsville police, along with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, spent the next couple of hours searching for the men.

They were not able to find them, but deputies say they know the names of two of the men. They tell WHNT News 19 that arrests are imminent.
