HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - An early morning house fire is under investigation.
Just after 2 a.m. Thursday morning, utility crews noticed a house on fire on Big Cove Road and called 911.
Huntsville firefighters, along with HEMSI and Huntsville Police Department responded to the call. When crews arrived, they found the home engulfed in flames. It took a few minutes for firefighters to get water, due to a malfunctioned fire hydrant.
Firefighters tell us no one was inside the home; neighbors believe the house was under construction.
It took crews over an hour to get the fire under control, but they were on scene for several hours after that.
Investigators are on the scene this morning trying to determine what caused the fire.
