BOAZ, Ala. — Three police officers from two cities were honored for their actions during a recent hotel fire.

The Boaz Rotary Club and local elected officials presented proclamations to three police officers from Boaz and Sardis City.

The proclamations were in recognition of the three officers’ actions during a fire at a Budget Inn in Sardis City earlier this month.

Officer Jeremy Sides, Sergeant Derek Wilson and Captain Kevin Kilgo were honored for going door-to-door in the burning building, waking people up, and getting them to safety.

Boaz Mayor Tim Walker presented the proclamations to the officers, citing the exemplary work of all first responders involved and their ability to work together effortlessly to help the citizens trapped in the building.
