HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Every week we show you a different road, intersection or construction project that's driving you crazy and we work to get it fixed. But this one is a little different; we’re showing you what drives construction workers crazy, as they promote National Work Zone Awareness Week.

Every year, thousands of cars pass through construction zone. "If they see cones or flags or barrels or message boards, that means crews are working in the right of way, perhaps even in the road itself," said Joe Holmes, Spokesperson for Decatur Utilities.

Many times people don't heed the warning signs and risk their lives, and others around them. "There's actually been instances where people have just barreled through those and killed workers," said Holmes.

So you could understand why it's driving them crazy; always glancing over their shoulders for distracted drivers.  "Every year 20,000 workers are injured or killed because of these types of crashes," said Holmes. "If people would just slow down and just be alert as they're going through these areas and know where the crews are at."
