HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theater announced the lineup for it’s 56th season this morning.

The lineup includes the ever-popular holiday tradition of “A Christmas Carol.”

The season opens with “Pinkalicious” the musical on October 7-9 & 14-16, 2016. The musical, written by Elizabeth Kann & Victoria Kann, will be directed by Terrena Mann.

Pinkalicious can’t stop eating pink cupcakes despite warnings from her parents. Her pink indulgence lands her at the doctor’s office with Pinkititis, an affliction that turns her pink from head to toe – a dream come true for this pink loving enthusiast. But when her hue goes too far, only Pinkalicious can figure out a way to get out of this pink predicament. It is a musical about learning the power of self-control and the importance of moderation.

“Miss Nelson is Missing” joins the ranks February 24-26 & March 3-5, 2017. Sandra Federico will direct this work adapted by Jeffrey Hatcher. The play is based on the book by Harry Allard and James Marshall.

Miss Nelson can’t control her crazy classroom because she’s just too nice. But when she disappears, her replacement is the hard-as-nails, detention-loving, recess-canceling, homework-overloading substitute teacher Viola Swamp! With the Big Test approaching, the kids suddenly realize how much they miss Miss Nelson and they’ll do anything — including hiring a private eye — to solve the mystery of her disappearance and bring her back.

“Pinnochio” takes the stage in April. Kevin O’Brien will direct an original script by Peter-John Sligting, Schuyler Howie, & Penny Ewing April 21-23 & 28-30, 2017.

From the moment the wooden puppet Pinocchio comes to life until he becomes a real boy for rescuing his father from the great fish, the excitement never ends. Join the Blue Fairy and her friends as they lead the audience through the tale of the boy whose “nose” grew.

And, you can’t forget the Huntsville tradition of “A Christmas Carol.” Elaine Hubbard will direct the play that she will adapt herself. The show will contain original music and arrangements by Mary Ann Bishop and Elaine Hubbard. “A Christmas Carol” takes the stage December 2-4 & 9-11, 2016.

This Huntsville Holiday tradition is back with a fresh interpretation of the Dickens’ classic! Audiences of all ages are invited to follow Ebenezer Scrooge on a ghostly musical journey through his past, present and future, as he receives the most important Christmas gift of all- redemption through the power of love.

Each of these stage adaptions will have open casting calls for children as adults. Keep an eye on letthemagicbegin.org for the latest information from the Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theater and Academy.
