Huntsville Police announce arrest of fugitive wanted for rape

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Huntsville Police say U.S. Marshals and Starkville, Mississippi Police worked together to capture Omar Martinez Balvas, 24, yesterday. He was wanted by Huntsville Police for domestic violence rape.

Huntsville Police Officers assigned to the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force worked with the office in the Starkville area.  They were able to take Balvas into custody.

There is no specific information on the case in which Balvas was wanted.

He is awaiting extradition back to Huntsville.
