Police identify 2 teens arrested in south Huntsville carjacking

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Huntsville Police have now identified the two arrested and charged in a carjacking and chase case.

They are Bernardo Garcia-Ruiz, 18, from Huntsville, and Teriq Deondre Baldwin, 17, from Huntsville. Both are being charged as adults.

They are charged with Robbery.

Around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jason Ledbetter was on break from work at Publix on Bailey Cove and Mountain Gap Road. While in his car, a man approached him with a gun and demanded him to get out of the vehicle.  He was then walked about 25 feet away while another man jumped into the Nissan Xterra.

Both men drove away and Ledbetter was unharmed.

Ten Huntsville police officers immediately began searching for the vehicle. Once the stolen vehicle was stopped, a 30-minute chase began.

The chase ended on Binford Drive, where both the passenger and the driver tried to run away, but were caught and taken to jail.

Ledbetter was reunited with his stolen truck around 11 pm.

Officers say they also found a weapon believed to have been used during the robbery.
