Pokémon 20th anniversary

Happy Birthday to you, Pikachu!  The much loved Pokémon entertainment franchise turns 20-years-old this weekend.

In honor of this milestone, the Pokémon Company released a new video celebrating two decades of “Pocket Monsters.”

The game originally debuted in Japan on the Game Boy handheld video game system.  Since then, Pokémon has grown into a multi-billion-dollar empire of video games, trading card games, movies, toys and a T-V series.

The anniversary video also announces two new video games:  Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, coming this fall.

Also ahead is the Pokémon Go app for mobile phones, expected later this year.
