The Pediatric and Congenital Heart Center at Children`s cares for kids across the state, kids just like Brody Simpson. As everyone now knows, Brody was born May 2015 with a heart defect that took him to Children`s two days after birth where he received an operation to repair his heart, which was about the size of a strawberry. Brody was able to go home from the hospital after four weeks. Although Brody has several more surgeries in his future, he is doing well and growing bigger and stronger every day.

Children`s cardiovascular services are located on the 4th floor of the Benjamin Russell Hospital for Children.  The medical division focuses on making the patient and the family at the center of care. This single platform of care includes surgeons, intensivists, cardiologists and many others, including nurses, social workers, child life specialists, counselors, nutritionists, occupational and physical therapists, and chaplains.

Children's of Alabama plans to have a fishing tournament this summer to raise money so they can continuously help children with health issues. The tournament will be held in Goosepond Colony Resort at Lake Guntersville on May 7, 2016.
