HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT)- Are you ready to ride? Now that Huntsville's city council revised two ordinances, ride-share companies are moving forward with moving to the Rocket City. Mayor Tommy Battle called it the "future of the transportation industry." One of the most well-known ride-sharing companies is Uber, and it could be operating in Huntsville in just a few weeks. If fact, people are already applying to be drivers.
Gary Braden became one of the very first Uber drivers for Huntsville. "It's more than just a job for me. It's an experience," say Braden. He is also a software engineer and says that he wants to drive for Uber in his spare time or after work. "I am 55 years old, and I heard about Uber about 3 years ago and thought, 'Oh, this is going to be huge," exclaims Braden. He automatically knew it was something that he wanted to be a part of. "I think it is very cooI. I think it is hip. It is kind of an interesting thing, and it's perfect for Huntsville."
