DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) – Four Decatur teens, who have each been charged with two counts of capital murder for the May shooting deaths of two men, are asking a Morgan County Judge to grant them youthful offender status.

According to court documents, attorneys for Joseph Cowan, Cedric Cowan, Amani Goodwin and Cortez Mitchell filed motions on Friday.

Arguments on the motions will be heard in court in April.

The young men are charged with two counts of capital murder in connection with the shooting deaths of Antonio Hernandez-Lopez and Joshua Davis.

The District Attorney plans to oppose granting the men youthful offender status.
