Deputies search for suspects in Lauderdale County store burglary
LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – Despite their best efforts to hide their identities, surveillance cameras captured at least three individuals burglarizing a business Sunday night.
The thieves spent two hours inside Haddock’s Quick Stop on Highway 20 in the Central community, getting away with several thousand dollars.
“Makes you want to cry. Makes you want to scream,” stated owner Diane Haddock. “Makes you want to say why.”
Haddock keeps asking herself that question over and over – Why would a group of men break into Haddock’s, a pillar of the Central community for more than 30-years?
“First thought is, I would like to grab you around the neck and choke you to death. The second thought is, no you’re sick. Something is wrong,” said Haddock.
According to investigators, three men busted their way into the back of the business around 11:30 Sunday night.
Deputies said while inside, the crooks tried their best to destroy the camera system. Fortunately they weren’t successful and the images may help crack the case.
Pictures captured the men beating their way into the stores safe. Haddock said she’s never felt so violated in her life.
“We’re going to get up,” Haddock explained. “It’s going to take us a bit to brush off. But we will survive, we’re survivors.”
Sheriff’s investigators said they are waiting on more images to be pulled from the surveillance cameras computer system.
They hope someone will recognize the eyes of one of the suspects. Something he were unable to hide with his make shift mask.
