HIGDON, Ala. (WHNT) –  One person is dead and one is injured following an early Sunday morning shooting in the Higdon community.  According to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, a man, Cody Wade, and a woman, Amy Ryan, got into an argument.

Deputies said Ryan left their residence and went to a neighbor’s home to call for a ride. Sheriff Jimmy Harris said after she made that call, she began walking towards Georgia.  Then, deputies said Wade followed her.

Sheriff Harris said two men, Barry White and William Gilbreath, picked Ryan up on the road and Wade attempted to get into the vehicle too.  White drove away with Wade partially in the vehicle. Authorities said Wade freed himself from the moving vehicle and began firing shots.

Deputies said several of those shots went into the car, hitting both White and Gilbreath. Authorities said White continued driving until they reached the Shiloh Community Church before he ran into a ditch.

Deputies confirmed White was pronounced dead at the scene and Wade has been arrested.
