HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Several vehicles were involved in a collision on Research Park Boulevard near Old Madison Pike on Friday, January 15.  One person died, and five others were taken to Huntsville Hospital.

Police say one woman died, and identified her as 63-year-old Pok Schumacher.

Three vehicles were involved.  Police say a vehicle traveling north on Research Park Boulevard crossed the median into the southbound lanes, causing the collision. It happened about 12:30 p.m.  Schumacher was a passenger in the Mitsubishi, which tried to avoid a collision with another vehicle, but the driver lost control and the Mitsubishi crossed the median and hit the other vehicles.

Schumacher died on the scene.  The driver of the Honda CRV was taken to the hospital but is expected to survive, police said.  The other four people taken for treatment were released.

Police did not have names of others involved.  They say the investigation continues.
