COLBERT COUNTY, Ala. – A number of law enforcement agencies are involved in a manhunt in Colbert County. They are looking for Joshua Neal Terry, who was spotted driving a truck stolen from Muscle Shoals earlier this week.

Leighton Police say Terry led them on a chase earlier today.  They’ve been searching for him since mid-morning in the wilderness area off LaGrange Mountain Road.

“When I activated my lights to make a traffic stop he then just took off on me. We went up LaGrange Mountain and back off in this logging road,” said Leighton Police Chief Brandon Hood.

Police say a couple of miles deep in the woods, Terry buried the stolen vehicle in the mud and ran away. The truck was recovered.

Chief Hood says he’s very familiar with the suspect.

“He was actually one of my suspects in some theft cases that we’re working, as well as some theft cases that the sheriff’s office has,” Hood said.

Hood is securing warrants for Terry’s arrest for Wednesday’s chase.  With his positive ID, Muscle Shoals investigators will also secure warrants for his arrest for the stolen truck.

Joshua Terry is currently under a five-year suspended sentence for a theft conviction.  Chief Hood said the man could be desperate at this point.

“Not to my knowledge as far as dangerous, other than there’s been a lot of burglaries and thefts in the neighborhood and his community,” Hood said.

If you spot Joshua Terry, please call Leighton Police at (256) 446-8479.
